What is Elephant Crafting?

Elephant Crafting came to me during my struggle with becoming vegetarian. It has become my outlet and accountability for the transition to veg, and I hope it becomes more to its visitors. Elephant Crafting features tips on how to live and create in an animal- and eco-friendly way.

Why elephants?

Elephants are just one of the amazing species that we share our earth with. Their emotionality, intelligence, creativity, and resilience have made them become one of my favorite animals. Elephants, as with every animal species, are disgustingly underestimated and it is the elephants that have begun to show signs of retaliation against the human species in what is known as the Human-Elephant Conflict. Due to memories of violence to their families while they were babies, elephants' animosity towards humans is increasing and humans are dying from a rise in elephant attacks. It is a sign that we need to change our thoughts about animals now.

Who runs the site?

Elephant Crafting is run by Massachusetts artist/designer Katherine Cota, creator of Spindle Bell design. Katherine grew up surrounded by animals and she has a passionate love and deep respect for all creatures. Her art/crafting habits are rooted in her childhood, as well. It is no surprise to anyone who knows Katherine that her love of art and animals have finally fused together.
